Astronaut Tim Peake - What does he have to do with singing?

Well, nothing really - however upon watching a video snippet on BBC's website I came across another astronaut who has also spent time on the International Space Station(ISS) called Chris Hadfield. Whilst watching one of his reports about what life is like on ISS, I noticed he mentioned the importance music had on mental health.

But watch a little further and you can see he sings and plays guitar.

You can watch the video below.

Chris Hadfield: 'Life on the ISS is like magic' The International Space Station is roughly the size of a football pitch, and it orbits Earth every 90 minutes at a distance of 250 miles. On Monday, the current crew marked 15 years of men and women living on board.

I was deeply moved as he sang the late David Bowie's 'Space Oddity.'

You can actually watch the full version here - recorded in space.

Rest in peace, Starman. A revised version of David Bowie's Space Oddity, recorded by Commander Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station. Recently I have been thinking about the place of singing in the world , and feel that as singers we need to think a little bit beyond The Voice, X-Factor and Britain's got Talent. This is a great example of someone making the most of his opportunity as an Astronaut.

What opportunities could you take?
