Do I need Singing Lessons?

.......that is a question with a thousand answers however I will make this one brief. The answer is again a question , ' Well do you want to be a good singer or a bad singer?'  The truth is basically that simple however it depends on who's asking. Regardless of your goals, from whether you would like to sing to your child at their birthday party or you are endeavouring on a performance career as a lead tenor in Musical Theatre, what you put in is what you get out. Singing Lessons are all about discovery from 'how to use your voice' to 'once my voice has started to progress, where does it fit in the grand landscape of musical variety.'  My answer is yes to the lessons, as the voice is an instrument with very intricate parts that make it work. However the next question is how many? Again, that depends on what your goals are. Budding performers must make the emotional and financial commitment before they start, as I have had to do. For those who are 'part-timers,' then casual lessons of less frequency are all that's required. Children can benefit from 1-1 lessons, however my experience in teaching kids is that groups are a better way to start out unless the child has immense talent and an unusual drive.
